Honest Motherhood @thatgirlwithherblog
“I guess I underestimated it a bit, becoming a mom. I have a hard time dealing with change anyway, and this is, of course, the biggest change ever. And I’m struggling with that. So no ‘on cloud nine’ here for now. Just feelings of sadness, homesickness, and fear of the future. Thanks to all the kind messages, I now know that I’m not alone in feeling this way, and that it’s okay that my bond with my girls still needs to grow and that I don’t really feel like a mom yet.”

According to my midwife, skin-to-skin contact helps foster a stronger bond. It’s something we hadn’t really done yet at the hospital, so we still have a bit of catching up to do. These days, I’m practically living in the @hetbevallingsjurkje, and it’s perfect for kangaroo care. The dress is super comfortable, and thanks to the snap buttons in the front, it opens all the way down to my belly button, so I can easily lay Ella (and soon Luna, too) bare-skinned on my chest while keeping her warm at the same time. It’s so nice to be close together.
Dear girls, everything will be okay. Let’s grow together as a little family and get to know each other a little better every day. You’ll always be loved! 🤍’
